Theft

Theft in Arizona is defined so broadly that almost anything can be classified as a theft if you are not careful. For instance, not returning a rental car in a timely manner can result in theft.  In Arizona under ARS 13-1802A(2), a person commits theft if, without lawful authority, the person knowingly converts for an unauthorized term or use, services or property of another entrusted to the defendant or placed in the defendant's possession for a limited, authorized term or use.  We see these types of cases all the time when someone takes out a rental car application, secures use of the car and fails to return the car until a week passes.
